gets imprisoned or at least
severely beaten. If after a
demonstration we are de-
tained by police for several
hours, nobody speaks about
it.
"Our members V. Brodsky
and L. Chukaeva are now in
labor camps. A. Shatravka
has been imprisoned for four
years, recently he was re-
leased and kicked out of the
Soviet Union. Since Feb-
ruary, V. Smirnov is in
psychiatric ward. Short time
confinement (a day or two, or
a month) in the psychiatric
ward is considered routine.
As well as summons to KGB,
threats, pressure on the job,
firing, -phone disconnecting,
mail disrupting and so on.
"Two days ago we held the
last demonstration together
with British and American
peace movement members.
Near Gorky park entrance,
we handed over leaflets. We
had also posters (which read)
`Hisoshima and Chernobyl
should not repeat.' It lasted
about five minutes, but
people took leaflets gladly.
We even managed to take
pictures.
"It is very interesting for
us to know, if you heard any-
thing about the Trust Group.
But be sure that such a letter
might not be delivered."
In a related story members
of the international board of
United Synagogue Youth
have pledged to fast on con-
secutive Sundays until Dec.
21, the opening day of USY's
annual convention.
Different members of the
board are fasting each Sun-
day, asking USYers in their
communities to join them in
order to call attention to the
continued decrease in the
emigration of Jews from the
Soviet Union.

New York (JTA) — Federal
and local law enforcement
agencies in Tidewater, Va.
have launched an investiga-
tion into a series of bomb
threats against an exhibition
of Holocaust artifacts and
photographs at the Tidewater
Jewish Federation. At the
same time, local police have
stepped up security at the
exhibit, "Auschwitz: A Crime
Against Humanity."
In addition to the bomb
threats, the exhibit was pic-
keted a week ago by a group
said to be affiliated with a
white supremacist, anti-
Semitic group, the Christian
Identity Movement. About a
dozen demonstrators distrib-
uted blatantly anti-Semitic
leaflets with a cartoon derid-
ing the Holocaust as a lie and
portraying Jews in control of
all forms of the media. It was
captioned, "How long can the
Jews perpetrate the
Holocaust myth? Not much
longer!"
