Arab-Jewish Violence Rises Jerusalem (JTA) — Arab terrorist attacks and appar- ent reprisals by Jewish milit- ants raised tension in Israel and the administered ter- ritories during the Succot fes- tival. Three Jews were accused Monday of assaulting two Arab sanitation workers in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv. One was released after ques- tioning. Another Arab street cleaner was slightly wounded by a knife attack in Ashdod Sunday and police are inves- tigating to determine if Jews were involved. They a -e also investigating suspected arson at an Arab school in Acre last Thursday. The Arab victims of attack are all residents of the Gaza Strip where two Jews from Ashkelon were fatally stab- bed in recent weeks. Anti- Arab sentiments flared anew after the grenade attack on Israeli soldiers and their families in the Old City Oc- tober 15 which killed one man and wounded 69 soldiers and civilians. Leaflets hailing the gre- nade attack and the downing of an Israel air force Phan- tom jet over south Lebanon were distributed in several towns in the West Bank over the weekend. Border police dispersed rock-throwing stu- dents in Rafah in the south- ern Gaza Strip Sunday. On Mondays, school children burned tires and blocked roads near Rafah. Palestinian youths stoned Israeli vehicles near Nablus. The Jerusalem District Court ruled that Damjanjuk would remain in detention, after the state charged him last month with mudering thousands of Jews at the Treblinka death camp in Poland during World War Two. 66, was ex- tradited from the U.S. last February. He has continuous- ly argued that he was not the Nazi criminal known as "Ivan the Thrrible," and that he had never been to 1Yeblinka.
