Symphony Starts New Season Pamela Sharni Adat Shalom Synagogue and Midrasha College of Jewish Studies will co- sponsor a series entitled, "The Jewish Contribution to the Performing Arts." The series will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Oct. 30 at Adat Shalom Synagogue, 29901 Middlebelt, Far- mington Hills. The series will focus on theater, music and dance. In "The Jewish Musical Legacy," Thursday, five re- cent Soviet emigre musicians will present an evening of Jewish music, including pieces by Solomon Rossi, Felix Mendelssohn, Anton Rubinstein, Ernst Bloch, George Gershwin, Dimitri Shostakovich and others. Musicians include Nikolai Lemberg, flutist; Israel Kre- man, pianist; and Vladislav Kovalsky, pianist. Also par- ticipating are Irene Kovalsky, violinist and Ed- warda Kremen, pianist. Pamela Sharni will present The Birmingham - Bloom- field Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 12th season at 8 p.m. Oct. 24 at Seaholm High School. The concert will feature the Larry Nozero Quartet per- forming a new work arranged for the group by Matt Michaels. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the sym- phony office, 643-7288.
