parasitism to hooliganism.
The POCs are only "guilty" of
wanting to live in Israel as
Jews. ...
There is no hope for any
Soviet Jew unless interna-
tional pressure forces the
Soviet Union to change
policies. Without our help,
the doors will remain shut,
anti-Semitism will continue!
Linking American and
Soviet Jewish families
through letters, cablegrams,
phone calls, and visits gives •
people the opportunity to in-
volve themselves in a direct
and helpful way in the Soviet
Jewry issue. Letters provide
vital moral and emotional
support to people in need: the
courageous activitists who
must struggle for freedom.
The Soviet Jewry Educa-
tion and Information Center
is a grassroots volunteer
organization which sponsors
an adopt program. Everyone
is encouraged to participate
... There is no charge for
adopting a family or any
legal obligation. There are no
hassles involved.
Does all this really help
refuseniks/POCs? Definitely!
Whether every letter gets
through or not, Soviet
authorities are careful to
monitor the attention the
family gets from the West.
The refuseniks, who live as
outcasts in Soviet society, are
desperate for contacts with
Westerners ...

and there is a family waiting
to hear from you. Don't
abandon them.
