Yom Kuppur Starts Sunday -11

Yom Kippur, the Day of
Atonement, will be observed
by Jews. in the Detroit area
beginning at sundown Sun-
day.
Services will be held in
area congregations as follows:
ADAT SHALOM
SYNAGOGUE: Minchah
services will he at 1 p.m.
Sunday with Kol Nidre at
6:30 p.m. Yom Kippur Day
services will be at 9 a.m.
Monday, with the sermon at
11:15 a.m. and Yizkor at
noon. Minchah will be at 4:30
p.m. Monday, the children's
assembly for Havdalah at
6:30 p.m and the final shofar
at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Rabbi
Efry Spectre will officiate,
and Cantor Larry Vieder will
chant the liturgy.
CONG. BETH ACHIM:
Services for Yom Kippur will
be at 6:45 p.m. Sunday (Kol

speak on " 'Lite' Judaism."
Yom Kippur Day services
will begin with Shachrit at 9
a.m. Monday. Rabbi Nelson
will speak on "Are We All
One Family?" Yizkor will be
recited at 4 p.m. Concluding
prayers with a Havdalah
youth procession will be at
7:45 p.m. Monday.
Junior Congregation serv-
ices will be at 10 a.m. Mon-
day. Cantor Samuel L.
Greenbaum will chant the
liturgical portions, assisted
by the High Holiday choir.

BIRMINGHAM TEM-
PLE: Yom Kippur services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday,
when Rabbi Sherwin Wine
will speak on "Love." Rabbi
Wine will speak on the same
topic at a service open to the

Jewish community, at 1 p.m.
At the 4:30 p.m. memorial
service Monday, also open to
the community, Rabbi Wine
will speak on "Wonder."
Children's services will be at
2:30 p.m. Monday (age 4-9)
and youth services will be at
3:30 p.m. Monday (age 10-

B'NAI B'RITH HILLEL
FOUNDATION: Services
will be conducted for Reform,
Conservative and Orthodox

Union Ballroom and Or-
thodox Kol Nidre services

CONG. B'NAI ISRAEL
OF WEST BLOOMFIELD:
Kol Nidre services will begin
at 6:30 p.m. Sunday with a
Torah processional. Rabbi
Sherman P. Kirshner will de-
liver a sermon on "Phrases to
Live By." Cantor Melvyn
Rose and the B'nai Israel
Choir, under the direction of
Dr. Morton Gold, will partici-
pate. On Yom Kippur Day,
services will begin at 9 a.m.
with Yizkor at 2:45 p.m.
Rabbi Kirshner will speak on
"The Seagull and the Tree."
CONG. B'NAI DAVID:
Services for Kol Nidre will be
at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Yom
Kippur services will continue
at 8:30 a.m. Monday and
Yizkor will be at noon. The
final shofar will be after
Havdalah at 7:30 p.m. Mon-
day.
Rabbi Morton Yolkut will
officiate at services, and Can-
tor Stuart Friedman, assisted
by the B'nai David Men's
Choir, will chant the liturgy.
Youth services will be held
for young people age 4-13.
Children will gather at 10:30
a.m. Monday for Yom Kippur
services in assigned age
groups.
CONG. B'NAI MOSHE:
Kol Nidre will be at 6:45 p.m.
Sunday. Services will be held
at 8:30 a.m. Monday with
Yizkor at 12:30 p.m. Minchah
will be at 4:35 p.m. Monday,
Neilah will be at 6:05 p.m.
and Maariv will be at 7:10
p.m. Yizkor for non-ticket
holders will be at 2 p.m. in
the chapel on Monday.
Rabbi Stanley M. Rosen-
baum will officiate, and Can-
tor Louis Klein will chant the
liturgy.
Youth services will be at
10 a.m. Monday. Bar mitzvah
through 12th grade will meet
in the chapel; youth age 8 to
bar mitzvah will meet in the
board room; and all other
children will meet in the
school wing.
