French Tighten Synagogue Security Paris (JTA) — The French government last week ordered elaborate security measures to protect the hundreds of synagogues and Jewish com- munity centers all over France during the High Holidays. A government spokesman said 2,000 provincial police have been brought to Paris to bolster the local gendarmerie. Paris has been hit by terrorist attacks six time in the past month, leaving nine dead and nearly 200 injured by bombs. Israel, Egypt Proceed On Taba Accord Geneva (JTA) — Israel and Egypt have agreed on the third member of the arbitra- tion panel which will be ask- ed to resolve their dispute over Taba. The agreement was reached last week in less than three hours. The name, of the third ar- bitrator, a European, will be announced only after the nominee is officially informed and agrees to serve. The dele- gations met in closed session at the Geneva City Hall. The two arbitrators already chosen attended. They are Dietrich Schindler of Switzer- land and Pierre Bellet of France.
