approved. Financed by the
various Arab governments
with the main thought "Jews
must go!" has become a pri-
mary objective.
The man who compared
Jews to the Nazis in the
treatment of the Palestinians
probably represented the true
feelings of the Arabs. A
watered down explanation of
such a statement should not
have even been accepted by
our Jewish leaders. The reli-
gious "Do Gooders" mean
well. However, any agenda
must include the safety and
survival of Israel. At the
moment, we all know the
Arabs will not rest until Is-
rael has been eliminated.
What do our religious Jewish
leaders say to that when they
sit down with their Arab
counterparts?

Ethiopian Group
Seeks Members

Thank you for the inform-
ative article on the Michigan
Association for Ethiopian
Jews (Sept. 5). I would like to
comment that while most of
the expenses for my Ethio-
pian trip were personally
covered, as stated in the arti-
cle, the MAEJ did provide me
a modest subsidy.
Also, I wish to correct the
possible misconception that
the MAEJ is not seeking new
members, which may have
been incorrectly interpreted
from some of my comments.
The MAEJ welcomes and
encourages new members and
supporters. We may be
reached at: MAEJ, 19526
Cranbrook, Detroit, Mich.
48221. Telephone: 747-4842,
day; 995-0375, evening.

kashrut of his product. If he
cheats, it is like a merchant
who has false weights ...
When an individual rabbi,
be he ever so competent and
reliable, interferes with the
due process of constituted
Jewish authorities, such
rabbi is committing a grave
error. Time without number
the Torah emphasizes that
the constituted leadership
must be given undivided
adherence. There is no excep-
tion to it.

Seeking Family

I am seeking any relatives
of the family Mendel. There
were three brothers Mendel
who emigrated from Ger-
many to the United States
around 1937, '38 or '39. One
brother, who was my grand-
father Isidore Mendel, lived
in Detroit, Chicago and New
York before moving to Africa.
His brothers settled in De-
troit or Chicago.
If anyone can recall a con-
nection to this family, I
would appreciate hearing
from you.

communal irresponsibility
which must needs be re-

that took a case like that
should be censured. if he is
not Jewish then he is un-
friendly to our people and
likely relishes the thought of
causing discomfiture to the
Jewish community by this ac-

severely reprimanded for
thus abusing his legal cal-

This breach in communal

the fact'that there is friction
in our midst among distin-

as reported in your issue of

Benjamin Bogomolny

Two Soviet refuseniks
"adopted" by Detroit Jews are
about to be released from the
Soviet Union, and there are
unconfirmed rumors that an-
other refusenik couple will
also be released.
Benjamin Bogomolny, 40,
and his wife Tania Heifitz,
received a phone call from
Soviet authorities Saturday
in their Moscow home, advis-
ing them to resubmit their
application to emigrate, ac-
cording to Bill Graham of the
Friends of the Soviet Jewry
Education and Information
Committee and the Detroit
Soviet Jewry Committee.
According to Graham,
