ducers of honey and related
products. For most of the
year flowers grow in wild
profusion and the bees swarm
happily in the foothills of the
Golan Heights, making the
kibbut's Galil brand of honey
especially fragrant and fine-
tasting. It is packed in differ-
ent decorative containers on
its own or with a chunk of
honeycomb in the jar oozing
sweetness. Kibbutz workers
mix honey with granulated
sesame seeds for a mineral-
rich delicacy that's recom-
mended even for babies.
Ayelet Hashachar, known
for its fine kibbutz inn, is an-
other honey center of note
with several thousand hives.
The bees there are doubly
useful, pollinating the fruit
in the plum and apple or-
chards and producing won-
derful honey for everyone's
enjoyment.
Wherever you go in Israel,
it is easy to spot beehives.
Tucked under fruit trees or
near flowering fields, these
buzzing factories are continu-
ing the ancient tradition that
still makes Israel a land of
milk and honey.

Gang Warfare
In Tel Aviv

lel Aviv (JTA) — A 15-year-
old youth was stabbed to
death and others wounded in
Tel Aviv last week in the first
example of "West Side Story"
— or warriors-style — teenage
gang warfare in Israel.
The participants were re-
manded in custody for 10
days by the magistrate's
court here, and a fourth,
charged with trying to hide
the attacked, was released in
$2,000 bail.
It started as a rowdy quar-
rel and shoving inside the
Dan cinema discotheque and
continued outside, in Hayar-
kon street, where rocks and
bottles were first thrown be-
tween groups from lel Aviv
and neighboring Bat Yam.
Knives were drawn and Gil
Elazarov, 15, of Bat Yam, was
stabbed in the chest and died
shortly afterwards at the
Ichilov Hospital in lel Aviv.
A 17-year-old youth from
Tel Aviv was cut in the hand
and stomach and is reported
to be in a fair condition, and
a 16year-old youth from Bat
Yam was stabbed in the
shoulder but did-not require
hospitalization.
Four 14 to 16-year lel Avi-
vians were arrested in connec-
tion with the stabbing.
The owner of the discothe-
que, threatened by police with
closure of the club for a
month as a potential threat to
public safety, said his securi-
ty staff had removed the
