Samuel and Lillian Hechtman have long been active in the Jewish Welfare Federation and its member agencies. He is a member of the JWF board of governors as well as an active partici- pant in the Allied Jewish Campaign. He was also chairman of the building committee for the Holocaust Memorial Center. Hechtman has been a leader in the Detroit building industry. He served as a member of the City of De- troit's Planning Commission and as Building Authority commissioner for Southfield.
