Let Us Cater YOLK N EAt
sins given by Leah and
Mitchell Marks ... Biggest
surprise was his birthday
cake ... Harry loves
cheesecake.
He took a picture with
seven-foot Akeem Olajuwon
of Houston Rockets basket-
ball team ... second half of
"twin towers" with Ralph
Sampson ... and admired the
big man's suit ... Akeem had
it made in Milan, Italy ...
but Harry knows his tailors
can do better.
Akeem was here to sign
contract for commercials with
Superior Products owned by
Harry Berlin ... which pro-
duces black hair goods.
Earlier in the day, before
his "shooting," Akeem had to
get all dolled up at Tamara's
Institute de Beaute on
Northwestern ... with mas-
sage, jacuzzi, manicure and
facial.
It was also birthday of Alex
Rudoi, and Mitch tried to
throw a pie in his face ... He
missed and both got splat-
tered ... with most of the pie
on Mitch.
Shirley Iden of Southfield
Eccentric took a picture with
Akeem and barely came up to
his shoulder ... with the
Nigerian basketball star sit-
ting down • ... She and hus-
band Jack were on hand to
honor Harry ... along with
his wife, Marilyn, Ilene Karp,
Tamara and Eugene Fried-
man, Sybil Little of Oakland
Press, and Dikran Darakjian.
Harry and brother Ben re-
cently donated ten percent of
day's proceeds from both
their regular men's store and
big and tall store to City of
Hope.
CONGRATS ... to Gina
and Arthur Horwitz ... on
their eighth anniversary ...
Art is associate publisher of
The Jewish News.
BIG DOINGS SOON ...
at La Mirage Mall, North-
western Hwy. ... Shopping
Spree is Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 8
p.m. and Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. ... The 20 merchants
at La Mirage will give ten
percent of its proceeds to
Women's American ORT,
Michigan Region ... with the
percentage being a tax deduc-
tion.
Next night, Sept. 27, the
La Mirage merchants will
again have a heavy hand in
putting on an art auction
with Danielle Peleg Art Gal-
lery ... 20 percent of all pro-
ceeds will go to ORT ... Pre-
view is 8 p.m. and regular
auction 9 p.m.

Friday, September 19, 1986 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
"Not at a cocktail party,"
says one of the "cateresses"
at recent shindig for Steve
Cooper, on November ballot
for 46th District judge ... his
sisters, Marge Robbins and
Madeline Harris and Phyllis
Swartz, all agreed ... Their
mother, Mollie Cooper says
otherwise ... I agree with
Mollie ... They made some
wonderful food for Steve's
guests ... including that
great chopped liver by Aunt
Rose Lieberman ... and
party supervision by his wife
Caroline.
Picture taking and kitchen
helpers were brothers-in-law
Jerry Robbins and Jerry Har-
ris plus David Barr.
The terrible rain storm and
weather forecasts kept many
people from coming to enjoy
delicious homemade food.
CONGRATS ... to Elaine -
and Al Fagenson ... on their
40th anniversary.
LOTS OF FUN at home of
Nancy and Lloyd Smith for
its Country Fair by Michigan
Cancer Foundation Circle of
Fellows ... David Hermelin,
recovered from laryngitis,
brought out his bag of tricks
for a magic show ... Most
folks don't know that David
at one time was a profes-
sional magician ... Good
old-fashioned merriment in-
cluded chuck wagon with food
galore, Country Caravan
band, door prizes, ice cream
cart, popcorn stand and
David as barker.

... Detroit Board of Educa-

to use ... Since many of the

serman was one of them)

seeing photo of their old alma
mater.

Roma's of Bloomfield on
Telegraph Rd.
