W

e are all trustees of our Jewish heritage...
with an obligation to improve it, cherish it and
guard its future". With these words, Max Fisher
expressed his belief in continuity of Jewish life
and Jewish values, from generation to
generation.

Endowment Fund. Here the donor of a fund
endows the Campaign so that his or her lifetime
giving continues in perpetuity. Earnings from
such a fund make possible a yearly gift to the
Campaign on behalf of local, national and over-
seas needs.

It reflects, too, the ideology of our Federated
Endowment Fund and the commitment of our
supporters, many of whom look upon the en-
dowment program as the community's insur-
ance policy.

The Allied Jewish Campaign Permanent En-
dowment Fund is already well established with
bequests and commitments totaling several
million dollars. One such fund has been estab-
lished by Max Fisher, who has agreed to con-
tinue the level of his Campaign giving for the
future of the community.

Two years into our $100 million joint endow-
ment effort, the Federated Endowment Fund
has passed the $17 million mark—real dollars
already at work for our beneficiaries. Gifts and
bequests to Federation, UJC and member
agencies have achieved this splendid record. It
makes us all look good—our donors, our work-
ing committees, our agencies.

Detroit is the nation's standard-bearer in de-
veloping the Allied Jewish Campaign Permanent

Everyone has a "pet" agency or service—and
everyone has the opportunity to join in this
program through a letter of Intent.

Just as we have benefited from the generosity
of donors in the early decades of the 20th Cen-
tury, each of us who believes in the continuity
of our People should plan to use the Federated
Endowment Fund as a commitment to the
coming generations.
