HADASSAH HEADLINES

Sheila Bass, Editor Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah, 5030 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield 48033, 357-2920 or 683-5030 Susan Yorke, President

Many elderly people and
underprivileged children are
in need of hearing aids, but
cannot afford the cost. Unfor-
tunately, the Israeli govern-
ment is in no position to sub-
sidize them.
A project has been started
in our area to collect used
hearing aids which if possible
are made functional, sent to
National Hadassah and then
directed to our hospital at
Ein Karem in Israel.
Two hundred and fifty
hearing aids have been col-
lected so far, but many more
are needed. We appeal to the
community for help in this
important task. Please bring
them to the Hadassah Office
at 5030 Orchard Lake Road.
For further information call
683-5030.

YOU CAN MAKE A DREAM COME TRUE

This year's goal is for our
Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah to raise enough
money during our telethon to
outfit and staff one complete
operating room!!! Individual
groups will work towards
raising enough money to buy
one or two pieces of equip-
ment for this operating room.
Our combined efforts will ac-
complish this great task.
FACTS: Hadassah Medical
Organization (HMO) supports
two hospitals — Mt. Scopus
and Kiryat Hadassah; they
are the finest medical centers
in the Middle East — and we
can all be justly proud. In-
cluded are: The Moshe
Sharett Institute of Oncology,

which is one of six leading
cancer institutes in the
world; the Mother and Child
Pavillion; a Neo-natal unit —
and a Burn unit. We also
support the Hebrew Univer-
sity Hadassah Medical
School, Nursing School and
Dental School.
The Hospitals are the sec-
ond largest employer in
Jerusalem, with 4,000 doc-
tors, nurses and specialists.
2,000 students of medicine,
dentistry, pharmacy and pub-
lic health.
