Rabbi Yedwab, ordained
this past June from Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Insti-
tute of Religion in New York,
received his ordination bless-
ing from his father at cere-
monies at Temple Emanu-El,
in New York, when the
senior Rabbi Yedwab gave
the ordination address.
Following the service, a re-
ception honoring Rabbi and
Mrs. Yedwab and Jennifer
Lyn Jonas, whose bat
—mitzvah will be observed to-
night, will take place in the
Herman Social Hall.
Selichot Marked
At Shaarey Zedek
The Selichot service which
ushers in the High Holy Day
season will be held at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek on Sept. 27,
preceded by a chamber thea-
ter, which will present works
by Peretz, Brecht and Sholom
Aleichem.
The readers theater will
feature local actors Shirley
Benyas, David Fox, Maureen
McDevipt and Jon Katz in
dramatizations of stories and
highlights of plays, taken
from the works of prominent
Jewish authors. Included will
be scenes from the Theatre of
Peretz, High School by
Sholom Aleichem and The
Jewish Wife by Brecht.
The program will begin at
9:30 p.m. in Adler Hall, fol-
lowed by a coffee hour. At
11:30 p.m. the Selichot serv-
ice will be conducted in the
main sanctuary by Rabbi
Irwin Groner and Cantor
Chaim Najman, assisted by
the synagogue choir under
the direction of Eugene
Zweig.
