IT'S A CRYING SHAME...
is a crying shame that Akiva children with special
learning needs must be deprived of their day school
education only because of money. Akiva Hebrew Dav
School has had to give in to the realization that due
to lack of funding the establishment of a program for
the learning disabled may be impossible for the 1986-87
school year. A qualified teacher has been found, the pro-
gram outlined, the children eager, the parents hopeful. Yet,
this desperately needed program cannot be started and
the children's frustration continues, simply because there
is not enough money.
• We in the Jewish community must raise the funds for
these special children. As it is written in the Haggada, "If
one does not know how to ask, ask for him!"
If these children can take on the challenge of learning.
can we not take on the challenge of teaching?
