Holocaust Center Offers Lecture Series The Holocaust Memorial Center will offer a four-part lecture series this month and next beginning with Dr. Yaffa Eliach who will speak on "Spiritual Resistance Dur- ing the Holocaust," Thursday. Dr. Eliach is a 1986-1987 Guggenheim Fellow, present Bargman scholar-in-residence at the Midrasha and profes- sor of history and literature at Brooklyn College. John Loftus, author of The Belarus Secret, will speak on "How Government Agencies Smuggled Nazis into the U.S." on Sept. 30. The event is co-sponsored by the Holocaust Memorial Center, Ecumenical Institute for Jewish-Christian Studies, Greater Detroit Interfaith Round Table of the National Conference of Christians- and Jews and the Jewish Com- munity Center. Dr. Herbert Hochhauser, associate professor, depart- ment of Germanic and Slavic languages and literature at Kent State University, will be the third presenter with a topic entitled: "Buchenwald Revisited," Oct. 8. Dr. Hochhauser will also screen his Holocaust documentary Robert Clary: A 5714, A Memoir of Libera- tionral. The concluding lecture will be given by Sister Carol Rittner, Oct. 27. Sister Carol is executive co-producer, of The Courage to Care, a short documentary about non-Jews during the Holocaust. Her film will be shown as part of her lecture: "The Role of the Righteous." Sister Carol is adjunct professor of inter- disciplinary studies at Mercy College. The lecture will begin at 8 p.m. at the Maple-Drake Jewish Community Center. The building is wheelchair accessible.
