Jerusalem (JTA) — The
proportion of residents of the
development towns to the en-
tire population has remained
at nine percent the past three
years, despite efforts to en-
courage the population to
move, a report issued last
week by the Manpower Plan-
ning Authority shows.
Moreover, the report point-
ed out that employment op-
portunities have decreased at
the development towns in the
past six years. At the end of
the 1970's the unemployment
rate was 6 per cent, compared
to 3.5 per cent nationally. In
the years 198384, unemploy-
ment rose to 8 per cent, com-
pared to 5.2 per cent
nationally.
