David Goldfarb had met on
several occasions during
Daniloff's five and a half year
assignment in Moscow, which
was scheduled to end this

Goldfarb said that Daniloff
had written about the plight
of Jewish refuseniks on sever-
' al occasions and had men-
tioned his father's case at
least once in his stories.
— Daniloff is not Jewish, ac-
' cording to the younger Gold-
- farb. He said the journalist
had ancestors who were part
of the Russian nobility, in-
cluding a grandfather who
was a high-ranking general in
the Tsarist army.
Despite his concern for
Daniloff, Goldfarb said he is
"most concerned" for his
father, who has been in the
hospital for two months and
is in urgent need of major
surgery for a gangrenous leg.
The older Goldfarb, a re-
tired professor of genetics,
has changed his emigration
request and is now seeking a
visa to the United States for
emergency treatment.
Given David Goldfarb's
medical needs and his connec-
tion to the Daniloff case, his
son fears for his father's life.
"My father could be a
potentially damaging witness
to the Soviet case against
Daniloff so I fear for him,"
said Goldfarb.
"I feel the more spotlight
on right now the better.
That way if he should disap-
pear one day or if his surgery
should fail, the whole world
will know why," Alexander
Goldfarb said.
Meanwhile, two American
doctors are planning to re-
'quest permission to supervise
Goldfarb's treatment, accor-
ding to the Columbia
. pro-
fessor.
Because of his disclosure,
Alexander Goldfarb believes
that it is now in the Soviet's
nest interest to either put
his father on the plane or to
let the American doctors
supervise his treatment.
"The story has been told.
Now if something happens to
him, the Soviets will be ac-
cused of getting rid of him."

Philadelphia Jewish Exponent.
