For toddler girls, Waiting Game
suggest a long waisted, knit dress
with a flare skirt that comes with a
long overvest, appliqued like a
collage with ribbons, bells and
shiney material.
For boys, this is the season for
sweaters — wooley textured
tweed blazers and double
breasted suits.
"The basic solid crew sweater
is dead," says Brody's Shindler.
This year's look: the Shaker knit,
a vertical ribbed, light-weight
acrylic sweater that comes in 12
colors, including solids and
heathers.
Shindler's favorite sweater is a
salt and pepper heather tweed
with the silhouette of an airplane
in black yarn. He also carries
other heather tweeds with
geometric patterns woven into
each sweater's fabric. "Wear the
sweaters with an oxford cloth
shirt and pleated pant," he says.
This is a herring bone and
tweed year. Shindler suggests
wearing a tweed sport coat (most
are grey-ivory-black and blue and
have beige, suede elbow
patches) with a bone oxford cloth
shirt, a grey or blue knit tie, and
black or camel pleated dress
pants.
Also new this year are double
breasted suits. "Wear the suits
with a dress shirt and a silk tie,"
says Shindler.
"Still popular for boys are the
classic penny or tassle loafer,"
says Jacobs at Barry's Shoes,
"and this year's colors match the
clothes. Look for grey, black and
blue in dress shoes."
Top off your put together look
with the season's newest
overcoat: a long, wool, tweed
trench coat.
For girls, Lorion sells a
sopisticated, glitzy look. She
offers a black lace dress with
sequins on the collar with a
matching headband. Or dresses
with a drop waist in sweat fabrics
with rhinestones and trimmed
with satin.
Who ever said shopping for the
kids wasn't any fun?
