Lames are printed in
mosaics, florals or paisley,

riphe first impression made
by the fall 1986 Trigere col-
lection is color. In wool, crepe
de chine or jersey, ultraviolet,
peacock, jade and lapis an-
nounce a framework into which
fit prints and patterns.
Multi-colored challis, for ex-
ample, will have a predominant
blue or green that relates to
the solid coatings. Printed
satin-striped chiffons will have
one major component that ties
into a black/green double-face
wool. Every piece makes its
own statement, yet every one
is part of a whole.
The challis group is stronger
than ever, thanks to a splendid
array of fabrics. From two-
piece dresses made of scarves
to easy, subtle silhouettes,
from fitted shapes to the ones
with matching jackets, the
range is large. For those who
decline prints, wool crepe
"Trigeen" or jersey present
many alternatives.
Three-piece suits or
ensembles usually involve
double-face wools with coor-
dinated blouses, or the same
print executed on wool and on
silk, or huge matching scarves.

Paillettes are patterned in
stripes, geometrics, starfish
and python designs. Velour-
printed taffeta, striped moire,
shiny metallic lace, jacquard
chiffon add to the texture in-
terest of the clothes. Paradox-
ically, there is the subtlety of
wool crepe that Scaasi likes
best for his perfect little
restaurant dresses.

Clothes are slimmer. Long,
lean dropped waist dresses
with a flash of flounce at the
hem, draping, twisting, and
knotting, the delicate outline of
rhinestones on seaming, full
godet insets on shaped
dresses, all bring the body into
focus. Lengths go from the
knee to mid-calf and long, and
Scaasi emphasizes mid-calf.
