6. Bring home entire outfits.
You'll lower the chances he'll
decide to wear a new look
pant with an old shirt or,
heaven forbid, mismatch the
colors.
7. Capitalize on occasions.
Anything to justify a gift of
clothing: the first day of fall,
Rosh Hashanah, his birthday,
the kids' first day of school.
8. Try to downplay the prices.
It's bound to cost more than it
did in the '70s. Break the news
slowly. But don't cut off the
price tags. Then he'll think the
worst.
9. Give away his old clothes
gradually.
Have a heart! He's not going
to change overnight. Save a
few items he loves.
10. Plant a few friends who'll rave
about his new look and
compliment him on how
young he looks in his new
outfit.

Israeli
Fashion Show
in Detroit

T

he outstanding new Israeli
designer collection
currently touring 60 major North
American cities is styled for the
contemporary woman. From
sleek bathing suits to elegant
cocktail and evening wear, the
show comprises the designs of
13 key Israeli manufacturers and
designers. In addition, for the first
time, stunning sportwear-related
separates by American designer
Liz Claiborne, which are being
manufactured in Israel, are
included in the show.
The annual State of Israel
Bond gala fashion show and
luncheon event will be held here
at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
on Wednesday, October 29 at
noon. Admission is by 1986

minimum purchase of a $500
Bond.
The creations are striking in
their seasonless appeal. Colors
range from classic black and
white to bold sun-drenched hues.
Silver and gold leathers play an
important role in the fashion
line-up.
Among the couturier designers
are Gideon Oberson and Tamara
Jones showing cocktail and
evening wear. Some of the
designers are "Sabras" or native
Israelis. Others are immigrants
from the more than 72 countries
which have settled in Israel since
its independence in 1948. Their
designs are affected by the
tradition of their heritages fused
with today's contemporary life.
Other prominent designers
include Edna Ross, Gingette,
Gottex, Niba for Sixteen Plus,
Rikma, Tadmor, Nilly Tvig,
Gershon Bram and Maquette.
Barbara Stollman is the
Women's Division chairman and
Meryl Podolsky is the fashion
show chairman.
The show will again, for the
third consecutive year, be
produced, staged and
accessorized by Northland
Center.
Further information may be
obtained, and reservations made
by telephoning the State of Israel
Bond office, 557-2900.
