skirts. Luscious textures and
patterned hosiery will be seen.
Again, colored hosiery will
usually pick up tones in the dress
or coat you're wearing.
Distinctive scarves are definite
season winners. Important are
brightly-colored silks from
designers like Ann Klein, Perry
Ellis, and Vera, along with
handpainted, one-of-a-kind
styles like those done by Flora
Kung at Begadim.
Finally, keep your eye on
sunglasses — becoming an
essential part of fashion and style
these days. This fall, they'll take
on a new and even stronger aura
of glamour. Frames and lenses
alike will be shown in a mind
boggling array of kaleidoscopic
colors.

inter coats in bright colors
and long, long lengths
are this fall's fashion success
story. Puffy down coats are out
and cloth coats — wool,
cashmere, etc. — are in.
Three styles are emerging
as particular winners: the
short, flaring coat, about 38 to
40 inches from the nape of the
neck to the hem, about knee
length; the very long, full coat,
measuring about 52 inches to
the hem; and the fitted coat,
also long but curving into the
waist.
No longer need winter coats
be heavy to wear. Manufac-
turers are using more luxury
materials, such as cashmere,
alpaca and llama cloth,
lightweight and ultra-warm.
These fabrics also require less
heavy interfacings and inter-
linings.
Look for bright colors to
dominate the market — electric
blue, fire engine red, chrome
yellow. On the other hand,
basic black is a big, big seller.
