Rd. 855-5885 The new shapes of black onyx The budding designers at Shenkar have several oppor- tunities to show their efforts to the public. Every holiday in Israel becomes a reason for designing original works, most of which are shared with the public via televised fashion shows and extravanganzas. The culminating event is the graduating class show, with tickets to the show eagerly snatched up weeks before the event. Beads that strike the imagination At this past summer's show, a standing room only affair with more than 4000 spectators, pro- spective new employers scouted Shenkar's graduating design talent. Many of the students are already known to members of the industry through their par- ticipation in Shenkar's work-study program. All students are re- quired to work one semester in their second year, as well as a summer term, in the industry. In some cases, students are even sent abroad to widen their base of reference and to expose them to international trends. In return, Shenkar graduates have made their mark on the Israeli fashion scene. BEAD WORKS, inc. This tape is then taken to the workroom and fed into the com- puterized knitting machine, which runs up a sample gar- ment, a process which used to take days but now takes a few hours. The Design System also features an extensive data bank, which functions as a depository for most knitting patterns cur- rently in use.
