Bond Tribute Planned

Louis Weber of Southfield,
a long-time member of Cong.
Beth Achim and past
president of the Metropolitan
Detroit B'nai B'rith Council,
will be the guest of honor at
a tribute dinner sponsored by
Beth Achim and Ivan S.
Bloch and Oakland Century
Lodges of B'nai B'rith.
The event, to be held on
behalf of State of Israel
Bonds, is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Sept. 28 at Cong. Beth
Achim.
Dinner co-chairmen are:
Dr. Manuel Feldman;
Leonard Herman, who will
also serve as toastmaster; Sol
Moss and Nathan D. Rubens-
tein.
Honorary chairmen are
David Blumberg, Louis S.
Cohen, Phil Cohen, David B.
Hermelin, Harold Jaffa,
Philip Lax, Ralph Miller,
Seymour D. Reich, Henry
Satsky, Sidney Schwartz,
Jack Shenkman and Dr.
Daniel Thursz.
At the dinner, Weber will
be presented with Israel's
Lion of Judah Award "in
recognition of his service to
his synagogue, communal
organizations and the State
of Israel."
A native of Detroit, Weber
attended Wayne State Uni-
versity and served in the U.S.
Army. He first began his long
record of community service
with volunteer work for the
United Foundation during
the time he was a steward for
the Teamster's Union at the
Detroit Times.
He was then attracted to
the goals of B'nai B'rith.
Among the many B'nai B'rith
roles he has played, Weber
was a member of the Interna-
tional Board of Governors,
Louis Weber
District 6 Board of Governors
and District 6 Fund-Raising
Cabinet; he initiated and is
honorary chairman of the
annual B'nai B'rith Founda-
tion Dinner in Detroit and he
served as president of the
Ivan S. Bloch Lodge.
He is a member of the
Jewish War Veterans-
Silverman Post and the He-
brew Benevolent Society, and
is a contributor to Bar-Ilan
University, Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah, The Jewish
Theological Seminary and the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
