OF JEWISH ARTS
A TRAVELING JEWISH THEATRE
presents
"Berlin, Jerusalem and the Moon"
Sunday, September 21 8:00 pm
at Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre
Based in San Francisco, TJT is one of the finest traveling theatre companies
in the world. It has performed to critical acclaim throughout the U.S. and
Europe since 1978 and has received numerous awards in Direction, Produc-
tion and Performance. TJT's newest work, "Berlin, Jerusalem and the
Moon," is a comedy-drama that brilliantly explores the contradictions of
Jewish identity using Germany of the '30s and today's Middle East as its
backdrop. The company presents ambitious theatre that weaves music,
mime, masks, puppetry, storytelling, stand-up comedy and strong individ-
ual performance into powerful contemporary drama.

Amos Oz, without question Israel's most celebrated novelist and
journalist, is also considered Israel's sharpest social and political
critic. His recent book In The Land Of Israel was universally
lauded for its sensitive but unsparing expose of attitudes in Israel
to the Middle East conflict.
Prior to Amos Oz's address, New York actress Tamir will perform
her one-woman portrayal of five characters from In The Land Of
Israel.
Chava Alberstein has been acclaimed by critics in Israel and
abroad as Israel's premiere songstress. She has concertized in
the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and South America. She
is a six-time recipient of Israel's Grammy—the Kinor David
Award for top female vocalist. A CBS recording star with 27
albums to her credit, she has a wide-ranging repertoire in
several styles: folk, ballad, jazz, cabaret, soul and pop in
Hebrew, Yiddish, French and English.
