New York (JTA) — The in-
ternational council of the
World Conference on Religion
and Peace, meeting in the
People's Republic of China for
the first time, adopted a pro-
gram of a peace education
that will include "multi-
religious prayer experiences,"
according to Norma Levitt of
New York, one of nine inter-
national presidents of the
WCRP.
Levitt, a trustee of the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations (Reform), is
the only WCRP president
from the Americas. She was a
member of the American
delegation to the meeting in
Beijing, attended by 140
delegates from 30 countries
representing 12 different
religious faiths.
A feature of the Interna-
tional Council meeting, she
reported, was a Shabbat serv-
ice led by Rabbi Jack Cohen
of Jerusalem, in which all
140 delegates took part.

nian terrorism in Israel
decreased significantly since
Jordan closed the PLO of-
fices in Amman, Defense
Minister Yitzhak Rabin said
last week during a tour of the
Jordan Valley. _
He told reporters that he
welcomed Jordan's action
against the terrorist organi-
zation as well as the financial
aid Jordan was giving to
West Bank Arabs for devel-
opmental projects. Rabin
noted that as the standard of
living rose on the West Bank
the possibility of terrorist
groups retaining allegiance of
the local population diminish-
ed, as the terrorists could no
longer count on exploiting
grievances of the West
bankers as .a basis for
support.

Fradokova
Released

New York (JTA) —
Nadezhda Fradokova, the
only woman Prisoner of Con-
science, was released from
prison last week and is now
in Leningrad, according to
Lynn Singer, advisory board
chairperson of the Union of
Councils for Soviet Jews.
Fradokova had served two
years in a Soviet labor camp
for parasitism. She was re-
fused a visa on the pretext of
her father's "access to state
secrets." Fradokova, a math-
ematical linguist, staged a
number of hunger strikes be-
ginning in March 1983.
