He will always be loved and remembered by his wife Ethel; chil- dren Dorothy Chaiken, Florence Posar and Dr. Donald Golden; grand- children and great-grand- children. Nathan Schwartz Nathan Schwartz, owner of Schwartz Furniture, died Aug. 22 at age 80. Born in Russia, Mr. Schwartz lived 65 years in Detroit. He was associated with the Fenster Furniture Co. for 30 years. He had his own business, Schwartz Fur- niture Co., in Detroit and later in Oak Park for 30 years, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Yiddish Folks Farein, Pisgah Lodge of B'nai B'rith, Temple Emanu-El and its men's club. He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters, Mrs. Irving (Janet) Kane and Ms. Carole Olefsky of West Hartford, Conn.; three brothers, Irving of Port Jef- ferson, N.Y., Ben of Bayside, N.Y., and Al (Abraham); and two granddaughters. Robert Feldman Robert Feldman, a special education teacher at South- field High School, died Aug. 22 at age 67. A native Detroiter, Mr. Feldman was a member of Temple Israel, the Disabled American Veterans, the Michigan Education Associa- tion and Wayne State Uni- versity Alumni Association. He leaves his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Leslie Eller of Shreveport, La., and Nancy; a brother, Dr. Alvin of Bel- leville, Mich.; and two grand- daughters. Allen Lichtig Allen D. Lichtig, an insur- ance agent, died Aug. 25 at age 85. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Lichtig lived 80 years in Detroit. David Lebow David Lebow, a retired salesman for a linen supply company, died Aug. 22. Born in Brownsville, Pa., Mr. Lebow lived 75 years in Detroit. He was a member of Mosaic Lodge of the Masons for 54 years and was a volun- teer for the Sinai Hospital Guild for seven years. Mr. Lebow served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1946, and s pent three years in Europe with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Mr. Lebow is survived by his wife, Thelma; three sons, Steven, Robert and Michael; two brothers, Max and John; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Nussbaum, Mrs. William S. (Jennie) Gottlieb and Mrs. Samuel G. (Rosella) Harvith; and two grandchildren. Elinor Kushner Elinor S. Kushner, an art consultant, died Aug. 24 at age 51. A native Detroiter, Mrs. Kushner was a member of Temple Beth El, was an art consultant at Troy Art Gal- lery, docent at Detroit Insti- tute of Arts and was a member of the DIA's Found- er's Society. She leaves her husband, Dr. Sander; two daughters, Marla and Mrs. Sander (Wendy) Weckstein; a son, David; her mother, Mrs. Harry (Estelle) Prady; and a sister, Mrs. Karen Roth. Israel Chess Exclusion Hit Toronto (JTA) — The Chess Federation of Canada and the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Toronto have pro- tested Israel's exclusion from the 1986 International Chess Olympiad, to be held this fall in the United Arab Emirates. Both have sent telegrams to the president of the world governing body of chess, the Switzerland-based Federation Internationale des Echecs (FIDE), protesting Israel's •barring from the Olympiad.
