LISTENING POST

DANNY RASKIN

KATIE & DR. MICKEY

Weishaus and Bev and Dr.
Max Gottesman have gone
beyond promoting their slo-
gan "Eyewear Fun For
Everyone" ... The frivolity
extends to their family and
friends, too.
It began when very sheek
Shelley Kalisky, Katie's sis-
ter, was "brought on board"
at Roland Optics, Applegate
Square ... with her
Cleopatra hair-styled look ...
adding much fashion to their
eyewear collection ... in
complementing the talents of
Les Lee and Dr. Harold Ro-
land.
They gathered their
youngsters and those of Jay
and Gita Richman one very
hot afternoon to have some
"eyewear fun" with frames of
all colors ... and lots of
goodies at Katie and Mickey's
home.
Result was a great time by
all ... treats for the kids ...
adults acting like directors
... for full-color ads in The
Jewish News "In Style" fash-
ion magazine and Detroit
Monthly.
The youngsters, Randy,
Todd and Lonnee Weishaus
... Lorne and Amy Gottes-
man ... and Wendy and
Tony Richman are already
asking about the next fun
session.
CONGRATS ... to former
Detroiter Dr. Allan Bagdade
and wife Susan ... on their
25th anniversary ... Allan
maintains a pedodontic prac-
tice in Arlington Heights, Ill.
... They both write monthly
columns in several natural
antique journals.
IT WAS A WEEKEND of
happy birthdays for Mary
Sarko ... that started on a
Friday, her birthdate ... and
ended with dinner party by
Leah and Mitchell Marks ...
at their beautiful Commerce
Lake home.
Outside dancing on the
patio to • music of Eddie
Chicko Trio (Eddie on violin;
brother Joe, rhythm guitar;
and popular Norman Bunker,
vocalist and stand-up bass).
Mary and husband Harold
also recently celebrated their
17th anniversary ... Party
for 17 people included ...
Elana and Sam Karp, Tam-
ara and Eugene Friedman,
Barbara and Roy Feinberg,
Shirley and Arnie Becker,
Roz and Dr. Lew Hayes, Inna
Kotlyar, Alexander Galaniuk.
Mary blew out all the can-
dles on her luscious shaved
chocolate topping cake from
Jacques ... and naturally
Roz Hayes brought her own -
famous strawberry
cheesecake ... Leah is a fine
fashion show producer and
her cooking doesn't take a
back seat.
The weather was wonderful
... Mary and Harold held
hands together as they sat on
the padded swing outside be-
fore dinner ... listening to
the romantic rhythms of
Eddie Chicko Trio ... They

enjoy each other ... and so
many friends enjoy them.

SEPT. 20 IS CORRECT

date ... for 50th anniversary
of Gamma Kappa- Chi
Fraternity of Wayne State
University at Hamilton
Place.

call the committee for info

BACK TO MICHIGAN

after 18 years in Los Angeles
come Norma and Haywood
"Woody" Hellman ... "We
are looking forward to renew-
ing friendships with lots of
old friends — particularly the
group of charter members of
Ramblewood Swimming
Club."
CONGRATS ... to Josh
Becker, former Detroiter now
in Los Angeles, Calif. ... on
his 28th birthday.
JUDY GOLDSTEIN, local
folksinger/guitarist, recently
returned from the CAJE con-
ference at University of
Maryland, College Park,
where she gave two concerts
. one in Yiddish for adults
and one for families ...
featuring many kids' songs
and Hebrew sing-a-longs ...
Judy also presented an
educators' workshop, "Using
Group Singing In The
Classroom" ... This was her
first appearance at CAJE,
sponsored nationally by the
Coalition for Alternatives in
Jewish Education ... and
this year, with 2,300 attend-
ing, comprised the largest
group of Jewish educators
ever getting together in the
western world.
More travel plans in the
future ... as hubby Aaron
and offspring Deborah and
Da-niel cheer Judy on ... help
her pack and assist with trips
to and from the airport.
