Paul Cherrin
Twins Ceremony

Paul Cherrin, son of Mar-
vin and Helene Cherrin, will
celebrate his bar mitzvah
Saturday at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek. This special occasion
is being shared with Paul's
Soviet twin, Dan Levin of
Riga, Latvia.
Paul became interested in
his brethren in the Soviet
Union over a year ago when
he was twinned with Avi
Goldshtein, the son of well
known, long-time former re-
fusenik Isai Goldshtein. Paul
was delighted to hear that
the Goldshtein family had
been released and were in Is-
rael. Then, he had the pleas-
ure of meeting his "twin" Avi
when the Goldshtein family
was in Detroit in June.
Paul then "re-twinned"
with a Soviet youngster who
is not free and cannot celeb-
rate this special occasion.
Dan and his father. Samuil
Levin, applied to leave Riga
in 1979. Life has been espe-
cially difficult for the Levins.
Natalia Levin, Dan's mother,
died in 1976 when Dan was
three years old. Natalia Le-
vin's mother and sister are
living in Israel.
The Cherrin family will
ask the congregation to send
letters of congratulation to
Dan Levin, in care of his
father, Samuil Levin, Mas-
kavas 268/2/48, Riga, Latvian
SSR, USSR.
