Friday, August 15, 1986 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Rabbi Manuel M. Poliakoff, spiritual leader of Cong. Beth Isaac Adath in Baltimore, Md., will be the scholar-in- residence at Young Israel of Oak-Woods Aug. 23 and 24. Rabbi Poliakoff, who will be in Detroit to attend the bar mitzvah of his grandson, Azaryah Moshe Cohen, will speak on "Fear of God." Azaryah's father, Rabbi Eliezer Cohen, is spiritual leader of Young Israel of Oak- Woods. On Aug. 23, Rabbi Poliakoff will speak at a seudah shlishit following 7 p.m. Minchah serv- ices. On Aug. 24, following 8 a.m. Shachrit services, Rabbi Poliakoff will speak. The community is invited free of charge. Rabbi Poliakoff studied at the Telshe Rabbinical Semi- nary of Telshe, Lithuania, and was ordained in 1936. He earned a Master of Talmudical Jurisprudence degree (Yadin Yadin) in 1939. He also attended the Uni- versity of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University and holds a B.S. degree from the Univer- sity of Baltimore. He is president of the Rab- binical Council of America, Seaboard Region; a member of the national executive com- mittee of the Rabbinical Coun- cil and national vice president; Rabbi Manuel Poliakoff president of the Rabbinical Association of Greater Balti- more; associate chaplain of the Maryland Law Enforcement Officers, Inc.; and deputy na- tional chaplain of the Jewish War Veterans.
