SARAH CONN, 85, of Clear-
water, Fla., died Aug. 4. Sur-
vived by two daughters, Mrs.
Dorothy Natchez of Grand
Blanc, Mich., and Mrs. Bernard
(Toby) Nastir of Clearwater; two
brothers, Fiank Olinick of Oak
Park and Abe Olinick of Miami,
Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Jennie
Hochman of Toronto, Ont.;
seven grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

BERT (BELA) .DAN, 70, of

Oak Park, died July 31 in
Florida. Survived by his wife,
Clara; a daughter, Mrs. Jay
(Shirley) Gottlieb of Hollywood,
Fla.; a brother, Morton Gale;
and two granddaughters.

DR. GEORGE FLAGGMAN,

69, died Aug. 5. He leaves his
wife, Maizie; two sons, Dr. Paul
of Arlington, Tex., and Daniel;
two daughters, Lisa of Los
Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Amy
Lichtenstein of Chicago, Ill.; two
brothers, Joseph of Windsor and
Dr. Lee; a sister, Mrs. Betty
Brown; and one grandchild.

SAMUEL GERBS, 70, of
Southfield, died Aug. 1. Sur-
vived by his wife, Theda (Levy);
two sons, Lawrence S. and
Stuart H.; two daughters, Mrs.
Leonard (Eleanor) Aronovitz
and Mrs. Leonard (Rita) Macias;
a sister, Mrs. Ben (Betty)
Weiner of Encino, Calif.; and six
grandchildren.

FREDA ELLEN GOLDBERG,

78, died Aug. 3. She leaves two
daughters, Mrs. Jay (Arlene)
Murray and Mrs. Marvin (Sha-
ron) Sucher; a brother, Earl Sil-
verman; two sisters, Mrs. Max
(Goldie) Rissman and Mrs.
Charles (Jean) Crtize; and seven
grandchildren.

CHARLES HANENBERG, 88,

died Aug. 1. He leaves his wife,
Miriam; and a sister, Mrs.
Rachel Shapiro of Israel.

LILLIAN JACOBS, 87, of

Southfield, died July 31. Sur-
vived by a daughter, Mrs. Bill
(Matilda) Ross; three grand-
children and four great-grand-
children.

ter, Mrs. Vera Stern; and three

LOTTIE LIFSCHUTZ, 82, died
Aug. 4. She leaves three daugh-
ters, Mrs. Kenneth (Joan) Israel,
Mrs. Nicholas (Deanne) Alex
and Mrs. Alvin (Annette)
Rosenbaum; five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.

MAURICE G. ROSENFELD,

81, of St. Louis, Mo., died July
28. Survived by two sons, James
of Southfield and Robert L. of
University City, Mo.; a daugh-

ter, Mariann Menges of Ladue,
Mo.; a brother, Robert of Uni-
versity City; five grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Interment St. Louis.

ARTHUR SCHUBINER, 73,
died July 31. He leaves his wife,
Estelle; a daughter, Mrs. David
(Ronna) Benigsohn; a sister,
Mrs. Marvin (Esther) Warren of
Hollywood, Fla; and two
grandchildren.

AARON SHPARGEL, 86, of
Farmington Hills, died Aug. 2.
Survived by his wife, Eva; two
step-daughters, Mrs. Saul (Bar-
bara) Ginsburg and Mrs. Steven
(Judith) Heisler; six grand-
children, three great-grand-
children, nieces and nephews.

BERNICE SILVER, 72, died
July 31. She leaves her hus-
band, Herman; a son, Nevin
Rose; three daughters, Mrs. El-
liot (Sharon) Burns, Mrs. Hiram
(Laura) Grossman of Flint and
Mrs. Philip (Elyse) Trupiano;
two sisters, Mrs. Archie (Shir-
ley) Leslie and Rhoda Hochwald;
and eight grandchildren.

IRVING SUSSMAN, 62, died

Aug. 6. He leaves his wife, Rita;
two sons, Arnold and Glen of
Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs.
Shirley Kaufman of New York
and Mrs. Priscilla Krinsky of
California; and two grand-
children. Services 10 a.m. today
at Ira Kaufman Chapel.

MARY TAYLOR, 57, died Aug.

2. She leaves her husband, Ir-
win; a son, Richard; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Michael (Sandy)
Kranitz of Lewiston, N.Y., and
Mrs. Steven (Lisa) Soffrin of
Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a brother,
Albert Jacobs of Toronto, Ont.;
and two grandchildren. Inter-
ment Toronto.

EVA WASSERMAN, 90, of
Southfield, died Aug. 1. Sur-
vived by a daughter, Mrs. Louis
(Mary) Altman; one grandson,
nieces and nephews.

Diplomat Saved
Lithuania Jews

Tokyo, Japan — Sempo
Sugihara, a former Japanese
diplomat who helped thousands
of Jews leave Lithuania during
World War II, is dead at age 86.
A consul assigned to the
Lithuanian city of Kaunas, Mr.
Sugihara issued transit visas for
nearly 6,000 Jews. He acted
against Japanese government
orders and was dismissed from
the foreign service.

David P. Israel, 90, of Bos-
ton, Mass., died August 2;
beloved father of Dorothy
Medalie, grandfather of
Russell Medalie, Sally and
Dennis Shapiro, and
James and Carolynn
Medalie of Philadelphia
and great-grandfather of
Brent. Sadly missed.
