Just hours before the funeral of last week's crash victims, the Cabinet announced it would hold a fullscale debate on the scourge of road accidents during its weekly meeting. The 10 were killed after a kib- butz van, bringing the young- sters back from a seaside vaca- tion, smashed into a huge semi- trailer on a road in the Lower Galilee. The smaller vehicle, totally demolished, was hurled to the side of the road where it hit a tree and burst into flames. By the time rescue squads ar- rived, some 20 minutes later, all that was left of the group were the charred bodies of the young- sters and the 35-year-old driver, and one boy — severely injured — who died on the way to the hospital in Afula. The accident touched off criticism of the government for attaching low priority to the prevention of accidents. Experts noted that while road-accident figures seemed to decline during 1984-85, there had been an in- crease this year. Part of the cause, they said, was reduced government bud- gets to repair and expand the road network. In this case, however, the road in question is straight and flat, and in a fair state of repair. Soldier Killed In Lebanon Jerusalem (JTA) — An Israeli soldier, Sgt. Arieh 'Ibuboul, ag- ed 20 from Beersheba, was kill- ed in Lebanon in a skirmish with terrorists last week. Ibuboul's unit came across the terrorists in the northwest of the security belt in south Lebanon. Ibuboul was mortally wounded in the ensuing exchange of fire. Two of the terrorists were also killed. Kalashnikov rifles, low rockets and other weapons were found near the bodies of the terrorists who were carrying documents issued by the Shiite Amal group, though it is not yet clear if they actually belonged to that faction.
