ml Aviv (JTA) — Red flags are
ying from lifeguard stations on
srael's beaches warning of inva-
ion by sea. The enemy is the
ellyfish, a tentacled, nearly
sparent, free-floating marine
reature whose sting is painful
ut rarely fatal. The red flags in-
dicate that jellyfish are present
in or near the surf.
The variety currently attack-
ing Israel is known as the
`Medusa and marine biologists
are at a loss to explain why their
numbers are so much greater
his year than in the past. They
an only hope the Medusas will
oon return to their usual
abitat, on the ocean bed far
