ZOA Scholarships

The Masada Scholarship
Endowment Committee of the
Zionist Organization of America,
Metropolitan Detroit District,
has awarded scholarship grants
for study in Israel to four qual-
ified area students, it was an-
nounced by Sidney Silverman,
committee chairman.
Scholarship recipients are
Elana Blumenfeld of Southfield,
who was admitted for study at
Seminar Yerushalayim in
Jerusalem; Jody M. Cantor of
Farmington Hills and Jeffrey
Chajes of West Bloomfield, who
will study at the Hebrew Uni-
versity; and Debra S. Reifler of
Oak Park, enrolled at Haifa
University.
The ZOA-Masada Scholarship
Committee currently adminis-
ters scholarships-in-perpetuity
funds endowed by the following:
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan I. Goldin,
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Hechtman, Mr. and Mrs. Irving
Pitt, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sil-
verman, Mr. and Mrs. Philip
Slomovitz and Mrs. Jack Sylvan.
Silverman, who initiated the
program and serves as its
chairman, is a past president of
Metro Detroit ZOA and a
member of ZOA's national ad-
ministrative board. Other com-
mittee members are Menachem
Glaser, Leonard Herman, Bur-
ton E. Isaacs: Judge Ira G.
Kaufman, Irving Laker and
Ezekiel Leikin.

PERRY COHEN, former De-
troiter of New York City, has
been named managing general
partner of Kingston, Cohen and
Co., a new limited partnership
to invest in merger arbitrage
securities.
Cohen, 48, previously was vice
president for investment re-
search and management in the
firm of Ivan F. Boesky. Cohen is
a 1959 graduate of the Univer-
sity of Michigan.

GERSON I. COOPER,

president of the Zieger Health
Care Corp. was inaugurated re-
cently as chairman of the board
for the Michigan Hospital Asso-

Cooper was graduated from
Cass Technical High School and
in 1957 he earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in business ad-
ministration from Wayne State
University.
