Jack and Miriam Shenkman,
along with their family and
friends, recently dedicated the
Shenkman Family Haverim
Home, the tenth home estab-
lished by the Jewish Association
for Retarded Citizens. Rabbi
Yitzchak Kagan officiated at the
ceremony, and affixed the mez-
zuzah to formally dedicate the
Shenkman Home.
Located in West Bloomfield,
the newly constructed residence
is the first JARC home that can
accommodate residents who are
in wheelchairs or have other
mobility and medical problems.
Many of the six women who re-
side in the Shenkman Home had
waited nearly 20 years for the
opportunity to live in the home.
Its construction was made possi-
ble by a gift from the
Shenkmans.
In addition to their involve-
ment with JARC, the
Shenkmans are active suppor-
ters of many other philanthropic
causes, including State of Israel
Bonds, the Lubavitch move-

Lupus Fund Honor

The Lupus Foundation of
America, Inc. (L.F.A.) has.
named Sen. Carl Levin of
Michigan a recipient of its 1986
Distinguished Public Service
Award. --
The award was presented to
Sen. Levin at a ceremony spon-
sored by the Michigan Chapter
of the L.F.A. "for his outstand-
ing contribution in the legisla-
tive arena to those affected by
chronic illness."

the seat currently occupied
