Todd Bradley Starr, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Starr, will share
his bar mitzvah at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday at Cong. B'nai David
with Mikhail Vainer of Volgog-
rad, Russia.
Todd has been writing to his
"twin" in the Soviet Union for
months, but has yet to receive a
reply. He shares his bar mitzvah
with Mikhail because Mikhail is
not allowed to have his own in
Russia.
Grigory Vainer, Mikhail's
father, is a mechanical engineer
Isabella, his mother, is a physi-
cian. They first applied for a
visa in 1982 and have re-
peatedly been refused since
then. Both the Vainer grand-
parents, and Mikhail's uncle
and his family have also been
refused exit visas.
The family and congregation
will be asked to write letters to
congratulate the Vainers:
RSFSR, USSR, Volgograd
