Scott has been at Somerset Inn
... He helped open both the
Tropicana and Sands hotels in
Atlantic City ... and came here
from Stouffer's of Houston.
The food at Crumpets is de-
lightful fare ... with choice pre-
sentation ... like the cold well-
bodied excellent gaspacho soup,
served in a stemmed glass.
Lunch at Crumpets includes
10 very interesting luncheon
salads ... eight hot or cold
sandwiches ... plus six burgers
... seven appetizers ... two
homemade soups ... five side
orders like lox, bagel and cream
cheese, chili, pita pizza with
garden salads, quiche and soup,
potato skins with choice of chili,
vegetable, sour cream or chicken
... eight entrees from club
steak to broiled whitefish to
veal parmigiana to broiled scrod
to shrimp to fettucine with
pasta to farmer's omelette, etc.
The Crumpets dessert menu is
such that could make a dieter go
stark raving mad ... so many
good things to eat ... plus fro-
zen drinks with or without ice
cream.
And the biscuits made at
Crumpets are so good ... there
is seldom any left in basket
after being brought to the table.
Entertainers appearing at
places like Pine Knob, Meadow
Brook, Silverdome and others
can almost always be seen at
Crumpets having breakfast in
the morning.
Franz Eggar is executive chef
for both Crumpets ... and West
End.
It is interesting that every-
thing at Crumpets custom made

coordinated with taste.
There is seating for 124 at
purple padded seats and booths

in the adjoining bar and grille.
The somewhat checkered
decor is like a Crumpets
trademark ... Accompanied by
large marble-style columns,
open grille work between booths
and around the dining areas,
heavy glass over gray tablec-
loths to match the gray walls on
one side and blonde oak on an-
other ... skylight ... and bir-
chwood atop the padded chairs.
At evening time, the lights
are turned down for romantic
dining setting.
It is open Sunday through
Thursday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m ...
and Friday and Saturday 6 a.m.
to 1 a.m.
Crumpets is probably one of
the prettiest rooms of its type
anywhere ... and has been
gaining much note because of
the decor, food freshness and
preparation ... and service.
This is no ordinary hotel res-
taurant . .. Private doors lead
onto the outside.
Servers enjoy working at
Crumpets ... with a main rea-
son being the room to bring
their trays ... Whereas so many
other restaurants try to cram as
many tables together as possi-

Dr. Alan Dorfman and Dick
Masudo on Telegraph, has sud-
denly become an exciting "new
adventure" in culinary expertise

Executive Chef Remy Berdy.
The same holds true for Jo-
van, connecting next door .
also owned by Alan and Dick
... Remy is preparing and
supervising all cooking for Jo-
van, too.
There are very few chefs who
can compete with Remy ... he's
that good ... and his knowledge
of people ... their likes and dis-
likes ... are a very distinctive
added plus ...
Also, those who enjoy a good
fresh tableside Caesar Salad,
won't find many better than

When Jacques and Jovan orig-
inally opened years back as The
Atrium and Bobbies, with John
Etchart head chef; it was con-
