As the only Michigan member of the original President's
Commission on the Holocaust, it has always been pain-
fully clear to me chat a Holocauit Memorial is needed
as a lasting reminder of the depths of man's inhumanity
to man which occurred a mere 41 years ago. Such a
reminder is essential for non-Jews and Jews alike.
While it . is doubtful chat any Jew will ever forget that
dark period in our history, our goal working together
should be that no one forgets.
