Asked why the division is
pushing leadership development
so strongly, Liner said that
previously Federation 'itself

changed.
"Now Federation staff people
are geared to leadership de-
velopment."
As the past president, he has
the option of staying with the
division or moving to another.
He plans to move up to the At-
torneys Section.
A good foundation has been
laid for the 48th YAD president.
And, she will have a good sup-
port network in the officers
elected with her:
Mark A. Goldsmith, executive
committee chairman; Stacy
Brodsky, Roselyn K. Blanck and
Lynn Tarnoff, vice presidents:
and members at large Jeffrey L.
Brodsky, David Foltyn, Warren
P. Hyams, Jody. R. Jacobs, Phyl-
lis Kessler, Frank Sklarsky and
Stuart J. Snider. Barbara K.
Tronstein is secretary/treasurer.
She also will be assisted by
board members Ruth Beitner, Jo
Frank, Lori Garon, Karen
Goodman, Chana Kogan (a
Soviet refusenik), Nathan
Leader, Jeffrey Levine, Paul
Magy, Russell Medalie, Larry
Rives, Richard Rosenhaus,

Chandler, Ronald Elkus, Dr.
Debby Feinberg, Tamara R.
Gorosh, Brian Kepes, Marsha_
Linver, Cynthia Mandelbaum,

A division vice-president since
1984, Heuer was YAD general
Campaign chairman and chair-
man of the women's Campaign.
She served on Federation's
Women's Division Spring Forum
committee and the We Walk As
One committee. She is a liaison
from YAD to the Detroit Soviet
Jewry Committee of the Jewish
Community Council.
Active in the community,
Heuer is a member of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek, Hadassah and
the National Council of Jewish
Women, and she sits on the
board of the Sinai Hospital
Guild.
With support from her peers,
a forward-thinking predecessor
and her own enthusiasm, could
Betsy Snider Heuer, the Young
Adult Division's new president,
expect anything less than posit-
ive results?

Liner said that during his te-
nure, he hoped to expand pro-
gramming and to promote lead-
ership development. "YAD has
to be the place where future
leaders of the Allied Jewish
Campaign come from." And did
he accomplish his goals?
"I think we did," Liner said,
adding, "The most important
thing that we did this year is
set up long-range plans to
enhance the ability of the di-
vision to encourage leadership
development."
