FROM AN IRISH gig melody
. . . to wonderful Fiddler On The
Roof medley . . . doing Tevya inlf
I Were A Rich Man . . . to
country-western rhythm . . . to
comical patter . . . etc . . . The list
goes on and on.
This is Ron Coden at Comedy
Crossing, downstairs at Red
Cedars, Telegraph and Nine Mile
Rd . . . who has been singing his
way into so many hearts for 25
years.
The Ron Coden Show being pre-
sented by Jack and Lenore Freed,
Comedy Crossing and Red Cedars
owners, is pretty much of every-
thing . . . with this fine young
gentleman flanked on each side
by guitarists Steve Fava and Ron
Blight.
Sitting and strumming his
guitar, Ron weaves melodies as
his rich, discernable voice por-
trays a conceptual meaning which
is highly appreciated by the many
people who follow this little giant
. . . coming from far and near.
Celebration time was on the
evening we were there . . . a two-
fold fete . . . for Ron's 25th year in
show business and his 43rd birth-
day.
Even his three-week-old
daughter, Kimberly Casey, came
to hear dad . . . carried by Ron's
wife, Renee . . . But she felt more
like sleeping, so they didn't stay
long.
Folks who came to first show
were given a treat . . . cake and
coffee between performances .. .
and an invitation to stay for sec-
ond session ... without charge.
Sixteen years ago, Ron did his
first benefit performance for
Focus Hope . . . and Father
William Cunningham was at
Comedy Crossing laughing
robustly . . . and making pre-
sentation to Ron.
Evening before, Councilman
Arthur Frolich took over for Oak
Park Mayor Charlotte Rothstein,
away at a mayor's conference,
with proclamation-giving to Ron
. . . Also Sen.' Jack Faxon with
state resolution . . . plus his
former English/social studies
teacher at Oak Park High, Aaron
Goff . . . Next night was Barry
Levine, director of education for
Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses ... formerly Ron's speech

Cake and coffee were upstairs
. . . where the very versatile and
likeable pianist Don Cook takes
over with his soft piano melodies
at 9 p.m.
Talented Ron Coden is consid-
ered to be among the best in our
area .. . with an uncanny ability
of styling that offers much
entertaining enjoyment . . . His
gifted abilities and cleverness are
crowd-pleasing assets.
Tomorrow at 3 p.m. and Sun-
day, 6. p.m., a full one-hour-and-
45-minute comedy special will

over Continental Cablevision
Channel 11.
It was filmed evening before we
saw Ron at Comedy Crossing .. .
and covers his complete
comedy-music show . . . with
comic Mark Sweetman doing
warmup funny stuff which many
say will one day make him among
the country's top rib-ticklers.
_ Mark opens the Ron Coden

Comedy Crossing . . . drawing
much laughter with refreshing
material written by himself .. .
His quick and crisp delivery is
with high quality.
The Ron Coden TV special can
be seen in Southfield, Lathrup
Village, Oak Park, West Bloom-
field, Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake
and Orchard Lake.
Offstage or onstage, Ron Coden
has always been a gracious young
gentleman . . . His talented ver-
satility is always a delight.
GOOD CHANGE has been
made at Rodo's Restaurant,
Southfield and 12 1k Mile, next to
Restaurant Duglass in Farrell
Shopping Plaza. •
It's aptly called "The New
Rodo's" . . . by new ownership,
who has kept the Greek favorites
. . . but also added some very fine
MiddleEastern dishes.
Everything is fresh now .. .
with the cleanliness of both
kitchen and dining room a pleas-
ure to see.
About the Greek favorites, like
lamb chops for example, top-
choice quality is now being used
. . . and the difference is very evi-
dent.
IF YOU PLAN on doing any
bowling this summer, don't go to
Ark West Lanes on Northwestern
. . . unless you like rolling your
ball in an empty building . . . That
is what Ark West Lanes is now .. .
as the locale becomes Embassy
Suites and office structure.
Expected to open by first of the
year, Embassy Suites will be nine
stories high . . . with 480 rooms
and 240 suites.
NEW HOURS NOW at Casa
Armando Mexican dining, Or-
chard Lake Rd. between 12 and 13
. . . Plus open seven days a week,
its good food and service is now 11
a.m. to 2 a.m.
Also there now is one of
Mexico's favorite guitarists, Paul
Puente . . . coming to Casa Ar-
mando directly from Mexico City.
THOSE WHO enjoy the full-
bodied robust taste of muffins .. .
rather than those seemingly
pumped with air, will enjoy those
being made now by dessert queen
Sylvia Lee.
