Metro Detroit Israel Bond vol- unteers, under the leadership of Alice Ross, re-investment chair- man, will hold an Israel Bond re- investment telethon July 13-14 at the main United Hebrew Schools building in Southfield. The July 13 session will be from 9 a.m. to noon; the July 14 session will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The volunteers will call holders of 15-year Israel Bonds purchased in 1972, advising them that Israel will accept these Bonds now, at full maturity value, for im- mediate re-investment, with additional funds, in any Israel Bond security, including the $250 Israel Certificate. For example, holders of a $100 Bond with a 1987 maturity value of $180 can use it now to rurchase a $250 State of Israel Certificate by only adding $70. In addition, maturing Bonds may be used to re-invest in Cur- rent Income Bonds ($500 incre- ments), in the Individual Vari- able Rate Issue Bond ($10,000 minimum, now paying 7 1/2 percent interest), or any of the other in- struments offered by the Bond Organization. Last year a similar re- investment offer by the Israel government and a volunteers' telephoning campaign here raised more than $190,000 in re- invested Bond sales for Israel's economic development. Additional volunteers are needed. Men or women who can devote a few hours during the telethon should call the Israel Bond office, 557-2900. Symphony Honors Independence Day The music of American compos- ers will fill the Meadow Brook stage in a celebration of the Inde- pendence Day weekend on Sun- day at 8 p.m. The Detroit Sym- phony will be led by conductor David Zinman and feature pianist David Golub. There is a fee and afterwards a fireworks display will take place.
