SERVING YOU FOR 7 YEARS IN THE SAME WALNUT LAKE RD. LOCATION

"MY BABY'S 40TH" was
theme of recent birthday party for
Bob Farber . . . given by wife
Ilene, also his former high school
sweetheart . . . Friends and fam-
ily met at Summit Apartments on
Northwestern Hwy . . . greeted by
the Farber children, Merrick, 15,
Michele, 13, and Corey, 7, who
handed out "welcome" flyers,
name tags, margaritas and
snacks galore . . . All piled into a
large bus to pick up the birthday
boy lounging at home . . . It pulled
up with noisemakers and people
yelling . . . as Bob opened door in
smiling shock . . . He donned his
baby blue T-shirt that read, "My
Baby's 40th," and off the bus went
to Mexican Village (he loves Mex-
ican food) with "Happy Birthday"
banner on its side.
Then - back to Summit
clubhouse, where Bob was roasted
and toasted by long-time pals and
family, while wife Ilene, wearing
fake nose that squirted water,
wore Merrick's old bar mitzvah
suit . . . Friends included: Bruce
Gallant, Bob Shapiro, Mike Cha-
ben, Iry Blair, Clarence Salzberg,
Fred Radner, Lisa and Dave Moss,
Anita and Larry Stollman, Steve
Glickman, Lou and Zelda Lofman,
brother Sydney with wife Mae,
and Bob's mother, Esther.
Four cakes ... each from a
different bakery . . . with ten can-
dles on them . . . signifying a
phase in Bob's life . . . hockey,
boating, baby and tennis . . . One
cake had four extra candles for
good luck . . . A lot to remember
. . . beautiful memories . . . all put
on video tape.
CONGRATS . . . to Jane
Wiener . . . and Jerry Tepman .. .
on their 50th birthdays.
ANOTHER ONE? . . . That's
right . . . the golf balls must be
made with eyes this summer .. .
Now comes Irwin Iwrey . . . with
an ace on the eighth hole at
Wabeek Country Club . . . using a
five iron . . . 'Twas sure a thrilling
way to celebrate his 29th anniver-
sary with wife Debbie.
Also in the foursome with Irwin
were . . . Larry Cohn, Gil Spilman
and Dave Gross.
Mucho congrats to Debbie and
Irwin on the 29 years of happi-
ness.
CONGRATS . . . to Susie Ab-
rams . . . on her birthday.
"I DO" DEPT. . . . Donna
Levine of Bardone's Interiors at
Applegate Square on Northwest-
ern Hwy. and Richard Heligman
. . . have made it a life partnership
together . . . Original intent was
to have wedding at International
Hilton in Windsor, but Rabbi M.
Robert Syme had an earlier wed-
ding and was concerned that he
wouldn't get there on time.
Rabbi Syme is much more im-
portant . . . their feelings along
with so many others . . . so the
ceremony was held in small
chapel at Temple Israel . . . with
party at Hilton . . . They'll hon-
eymoon to Monte Carlo in August.
Of the five people working at
Bardone's, celebrating second an-
> niversary in Applegate Square
. . . (ten years at other spots
makes 12 years altogether) .. .
one is a "college outcast" . . . the
only lass there who didn't
graduate from Wayne State Uni-

versity . . . Bookkeeper Lois
Kanter got her cap and gown at
Roosevelt University in Chicago
. . . Donna, Arlene Cohen, Robbie
Segel, Judi Elias-Ochs and Eve-
lyn Sahn all graduated from
Wayne.
Only Evelyn is not an interior
designer . . . She is Bardone's very
good customer service gal .. .
Lois, of course-, keeps the books.
MIKE HARTMAN, son of
Cheri and John Hartman, was
drafted in seventh round by Buf-
falo Sabres of National Hockey
League . . . Grandmother Yetta
Laxer is a waitress at Irving's
Restaurant, La Mirage mall,
Northwestern Hwy.
Mike, a very fine right wing,
played for West Bloomfield High.
CONGRATS . . . to Philip
Bayer . . . on his birthday . . . He's
the 8-year-old son of Pricilla and
Walt Bayer.
HIS MEMORY LINGERS
ON . . . Norma Katz, wife of the
late Max Katz, recently received a
phone call from Lew Citcron, who
with other Shriners, had cannis-
ter for "Crippled & Burned Chil-
dren" . . . A young man stopped
with youngster in his arms and
put in a $20, saying, "This is for
Max Katz."
Max was very active with the
Shriners and past president of
Crescent Shrine . . . He passed on
last year in June . . . Norma would
like to know who the young man
with his youngster was . . . to
thank him . . . To Lew Citcron, she
says, "Thank you very much for
calling me and telling about the
incident. It made my day."
DAVID STOLLMAN took
fourth place at U.S. National
Junior Fencing Championships
held in New York . . . was in the
men's sabre division . . . Dave re-
cently graduated cum laude from
Cranbrook.

president of Manufacturers Bank
of Southfield and Novi . . . He is
also vice president and senior
community banking officer for
MBD . . . All Manufacturers
banks will be merged by next
June . . ., Jim Schram takes over
Bruce's former office on Green-
field and Eight Mile as second vice
president in charge at the branch
. . . New office of Bruce is 12 Mile
and Telegraph.
, ARNOLD GAINES decided to
give up smoking . . . After a few
days his nerves were pretty tight
. . . One morning he had had about
enough of work, and called wife
Ella, to say he was coming home
. . . On the way, Arnold passed an
automobile showroom and saw a
sports car in the window . . . He
went in, closed the deal and drove
the car right off the floor . . . When
he parked his new auto in the
driveway, Ella came out and
exclaimed, "What's this?" . . . Ar-
nold replied, "Well, it was either
this — or a cigarette."
"IT'S THE GIFTS" will be
opened at Orchard Mall, Orchard
Lake Rd. north of Maple, this Sep-

WAKE UP . . . TO PANACHE

A NEW RESTAURANT AND MUCH MUCH MORE

At Panache (pronounced by us Pa-nosh), we know that you're really the movers and the
shakers. But time and time again, we hear it said that you may be the sleepy, bedroom
types who turn in early.

So once and for all, let's put the rumor to rest. Stop in at Panache, because just like you,
we've got style, flair and self-confidence.

Exquisite food served with a European flair at American prices. Visit our sophisticated
lounge with the only dance floor in Birmingham.
Top 40 entertainment Tuesday through Sunday 9 p.m. till 2 a.m. Light Jazz on Monday
nights featuring such perennial favorites as Alexander Zonjic and Bugs Beddow.
