Advanced Degrees
Several area residents have
earned advanced degrees at
Michigan State Univeitity. They
are:
Donna Solomon, daughter of
Jack and Jane Solomon of Hun-
tington Woods, earned a Doctof of
Veterinary Medicine degree.
Doctor of Osteopathy degrees
were awarded to: Samuel H.
Kelman, son of Jerome W. and
Bernice Kelman of Southfield;
Richard Nathan Mark, son of
Florine Mark-Ross of Far-
mington Hills; and Debra Peven,
daughter of Joan Peven and

Jordan Matthew Parr of South-
field was ordained a rabbi re-
cently at the Cincinnati campus
of Hebrew Union College-Jewish -(
Institute of Religion.
Rabbi Parr was educated at
Southfield-Lathrup High School
where he was elected to Phi Beta
Kappa. He was vice president of
the Temple Emanu-el Youth and
an officer and national board
member of the Michigan State [-\
Temple Youth. He earned a
bachelor's degree in history at
the University of Michigan at
Ann Arbor.
Rabbi Parr and his wife,
Cynthia, will reside in Dallas,
Tex., where Rabbi Parr has been
appointed assistant rabbi at
Temple Shalom. He is the son of
Lyle and Laurice Parr of South-
field.

Couples Plan
Family Picnic
Yachad, the Beth Achim
Couples' Club, will have a family
picnic on June 29, at 11 a.m. at
Independence Oaks County Park
in Clarkston. Independence Oaks
is located on Sashabaw Road 21/2—/
miles north of 1-75.
Yachad will provide dessert.
Families should bring their own
picnic lunch. Swimming, softball <
and games will be available.
