individual couseling of people
wih psychiatric problems and 9
percent of the time was in han-
dling parent-child problems. He
noted a significant rise in the
number of aging cases served,
from 1,211 in 1984 to 1,372 in
1985, representing more than 33
percent of staff time spent in di-
rect service to clients. There was
a marked rise in the number of
clients seen in group therapy,
from 213 to 258. The number of
group sessions increased from
786 to 852.
Dr. Pearsall mentioned that
there has been a large explosion
in research on coping
mechanisms to handle the stress
crises in life.
Marvin C. Daitch was chair-
man of the nominating commit-
tee for Jewish - Family Service
and Rabbi Steinger chaired the
nominating committee for Reset-
tlement Service. Mrs. Portnoy
and Ms. Klein-chaired the annual
meeting planning committee.

Southfield Library
Presents Programs

The Southfield Public Library
will present a laser program for
school-age children, drop-in
stories for preschoolers and
"Summer Fun at the Library for
Toddlers."
On Wednesday, there will be
two presentations of the laser
show at 2 and 3 p.m. Admission is
free with a ticket that was given
to all children living or attending
school in Southfield or Lathrup
Village.
The drop-in stories will be held
every Thursday beginning this
week until July 31 at 10:30 a.m.
or on Tuesdays July 1-29.
The toddler program is geared
for children 24 to 35 months and
will be presented at 10 a.m. on
Tuesdays from July 8 to 29.
Registration begins Monday at
9:30 a.m in the Children's Room
of the library and the child's birth
certificate and proof of residency
in Southfield or Lathrup Village
should be brought. For informa-
tion on these programs contact
