B'NAI MITZVAH B'not Mitzvah Share Their Day Julie Sarah Tracht and Allyson Brooke Weinfuss will be called to the Torah this Saturday at Tem- ple Israel on the occasion of their b'not mitzvah. Julie is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Arnold Tracht of West Bloomfield and sister to Ryan and Sari. Allyson's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Weinfuss, also of West Bloomfield. Julie and Allyson will twin their b'not mitzvah with Yulia Piervskaya, the daughter of Dr. Semyon and Irina Gluzman of Kiev. An empty chair, draped with a talit will be placed on the bima to signify Julie and Ally- son's symbolic sharing of their special day with their Soviet twin. Because of oppression from the Soviet government against the practice of Judaism, Yulia is unable to celebrate her bat mitzvah. Dr. Gluzman, a psychiatrist, was recently freed after being in exile for ten years for refusing to diagnose Soviet political dissi- dents as insane to insure their in- carceration in mental institu- tions. Dr. Gluzman wants to immig- rate to Israel with his wife and step-daughter, but Yulia's natural father withholds permis- sion for her to leave. As a result, authorities refuse to accept the authorities his application. Julie and Allyson have written to Yulia several times and have received no reply. The Trachts have written to Soviet authorities requesting that the Gluzmans be permitted to im- migrate.
