N. of Maple Music Contest Is Announced Applications are being taken for the third annual Maccabees Mutual Life Insurance and CKLW-AM 800 "Quest for the Best." The "Quest" is a competition for classical and contemporary :musicians. The classical competi- tion will begin on Sept. 14 and the contemporary competition will begin Feb. 15, 1987. Each program in this series will be broadcast on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. competition is open to all \___, The . .trings, woodwinds, brass, harps, guitars, percussion and keyboard 'performers who range in age from 15 to 22. The applicant must be a resident of the state of Michigan or the providence of Ontario, Canada, and must not be a full-time musical employee of a professional symphony, chamber or other orchestra or a ' religious institution.Applicants for the classical music competi- tion must send in either a reel- to-reel or a cassette tape — no longer than 15 minutes ( a reel to \ reel is preferred) accompanied by the application form. The reel or ,ape should contain one selection from list "a" and one from list "B" from the Qualifying Repertoire list. These tapes should be sent to "Quest for the Best," CKLW-AM 800, P.O.
