sifted health care organization.
Active in the Jewish commu-
nity, she serves on Federation's
Commission on Identity and Af-
filiation and is a former board
member of the Jewish Associa-
tion for Retarded Citizens.
Her new duties include meet-
ing with prospective home-
buyers and real estate agents,
and working with residents,
neighborhood associations, civic
and government leaders. Cooper
is working in conjunction with
Federation's planning depart-
ment, and the entire project is
overseen by Federation's Confer-
ence of Division Chairmen.
The project is intended to _con-
vey and strengthen the sense of
Jewish "neighborhood" that
exists in areas of Oak Park and
Southfield. It is also seeking the
active participation of commu-
nity leaders in neighboring Hun-
tington Woods.
Federation will be developing a
mortgage down-payment assis-
tance plan for qualified home-
buyers. In addition, cultural,
educational and recreation pro-
grams, as well as neighborhood
beautification projects, are
among the plans.
Policy guidelines are being de-
veloped and will be announced
this summer. While much of the
project is in the planning stage,
calls may be directed to Harriet
Cooper at Federation, 965-3939.
We wish also to thank Mr. Don Janowitz
of the Farmer Jack Market - Greenfield
and 11 Mile Road whose prompt action
made Marcia's recovery possible.

Low Fat Chicks
Are Developed
9
ertAlt,
Jerusalem — Chickens that
are low in fat yet taste as good as
fat chickens have been developed
by geneticists and nutrition ex-
perts at the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem. The lean chickens
should be ready in about three
years.
Scientists at Hebrew U. have
succeeded in breeding two genet-
ically distinct lines of chickens —
one very thin and one very fat —
within the short time of four
years.
