Archie Keltz SHIRLEY KIRMAN, 54, died June 7. She leaves her husband, Norman; two daughters, Mrs. George (Eleen) Fortner of Longview, Wash., and Mrs. Ronald (Sheryl) Silberstein; and one grandson. SAM H. KORNWISE, 86, of Southfield, died June 11. Sur- vived by two daughters, Mrs. Ab- raham (Lorraine) Morris and Mrs. Louis (Roslyn) Simon; three brothers, Erwin, Arthur and Max; two sisters, Mrs. Helen El- ford and Mollie; six grandchildren and one great- granddaughter. HARRY SCHWARTZ, 93, died June 5. He leaves a son, Sidney; three brothers, Jack of Toledo, Morris of Toledo and Ralph of Miami Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Ann Korman, Mrs. Rose Margolis, Mrs. Ida Resnick of To- ledo and Mrs. Goldie London of Toledo; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. BENJAMIN SLUTSKY, 71, former Detroiter of Sunrise, Fla., died May 9.. Survived by his wife, Rose; two sons, Larry of South- field and Allan of Miami, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Inter- ment Sunrise. Ira Spoon Ira J. Spoon, a former Detroit real estate developer, died June 6 in Los Angeles, Calif. Born in Detroit, Mr. Spoon moved to Los Angeles in 1968. He was graduated from Wayne State University and its law school, from which he received a joint degree in 1945. In Michigan, Mr. Spoon was a member of the Michigan Bar Association, Temple Beth El and Knollwood Country Club. In 1983, he established the Ira J. and Shirley J. Spoon Schol- arships at WSU and at UCLA. In Los Angeles, Mr. Spoon was a member of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, active in the Guardians of the Jewish Horne' for the Aged, on the board of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and a member of Brentwood Country Club. In Detroit, he was a real estate developer affiliated with Spoon Brothers Builders, a firm which constructed single family homes, commercial and industrial build- ings. He also was active as a real estate developer in California. Mr. Spoon is survived by his wife, Shirley J.; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Denise) Zucker- man of Farmington Hills and Cynthia Carol of Beverly Hills, Archie Keltz, an insurance agent and accountant, died May 27 at age 78. Born in Toronto, Ont., Mr. Keltz began as an insurance agent in Detroit in 1933. He was the owner of the Ferndale Insur- ance Agency and the Ferndale Bookkeeping and Tax Service until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the super- visory committee of the Ferndale Co-Op Credit Union and he was the treasurer of the Mac Home in Ferndale. Mr. Keltz also did vol- unteer work in Ferndale and Oak Park and assisted the probation department of the 43rd District Court in Ferndale. He formerly belonged to the Knights of Pythias and was a current member of Cong. Beth Achim. He leaves his wife, Anne; a son, Marshall of Houghton; a daugh- ter, Mrs. Marvin (Charlotte) Rosenberg; a brother, Gordon of Don Mills, Ont.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Tarnow of Toronto and Anne of Downsview, Ont.; five grandchildren and two great- grandchilden Gertrude Beerbohm Gertrude D. Beerbohm, a former teacher at Angel, Brady and Owen elementary schools in Detroit, died June 6 at age 72. Born in Detroit, Mrs. Beer- bohm was a 1936 graduate of Wayne State University. She taught social studies from 1936 to 1942. Mrs. Beerbohm and her husband were world travelers and were among the first to re- ceive visas to visit China in 1979. She was a member of Temple Beth El, Women's American ORT and Hadassah. She leaves her husband Alex; two sons, Steven and Norman; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Sherry) Goldberg; and two sisters, Mrs._ Martin (Marabel) Hackelman and Mrs. Martin (Lorraine) Blanck. Ada Markowitz Ada Markowitz, a member of Jewish communal organizations, died June 4 at age 79. Born in Russia, Mrs. Mar- kowitz lived 65 years in Detroit. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Hadassah and Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel Moses.
