Southfield attorney Bernard
Friedman has announced his
candidacy for the post of judge
of the 46th District.
For 35 years Friedman has
been a trial lawyer and munici-
pal attorney. In addition to his
law practice, Friedman has been
founder, owner and director of
Camp Tanuga, located in Kal-
kaska, Mich. Friedman has been
president and a member of the
board of directors of the Ameri-
can Camping .Association,
Michigan Section.
Friedman earned his Juris
Doctor degree from Wayne State
University in 1950 and is a
partner in the law firm of
Kasoff, Young, Gottesman,
Kovinsky, Friedman and Wal-
kon.
He has been with the office of
City Attorney for Redford Town-
ship, Melvindale, Taylor and
Madison Heights. He served in
the U.S. Army Air Corps during
World War II.
He is currently a member of
the Michigan Municipal League
and adviser for the Gateway
Crisis Center' in Madison
Heights.

Seniors Treated
To Book Review

Frances Weinberg will review
A Season of Delight by Joanne
Greenberg at 11 a.m. Tuesday
in room 4 of the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Branch of the Jewish
Community Center. The pro-
gram is held under the auspices
of the senior adult department.
At 1 p.m. Tuesday, Benny
Schwarz, community shaliach
(emissary), will present a slide
tour of Israel. At 2 p.m. that
day, the film, The Challenge,
will be shown. Both activities
will take place in the assembly
hall of the JPM Branch.
The senior adult library pro-
gram will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday in the JPM Branch
library. Chana Klein will dis-
cuss Jewish literature.
The current events discussion
group, led by Abe Gornbein, will

Community College Board of
Trustees.
Dr. Bornstein has been a pro-
fessional educator for 32 years.
Her experiences include posi-
tions as a classroom teacher,
school administrator, college in-
structor and teacher trainer.
Currently, she is an adminis-
trator with the Detroit Public
Schools in the department of
evaluation and testing.
Dr. Bornstein has been a
member of Cong. Shaarey Zedek
for more than 25 years.

Sinai Lecture
Focuses On Pain

Sinai Hospital of Detroit will
hold a free lecture entitled "Tell
Me Where It Hurts," on Tuesday
at 7:30 p.m. in the hospital's
Zuckerman Auditorium.
Dr. Michael Sperl of the de-
partment of rehabilitation
medicine will discuss the origins
of back, neck and shoulder
pains, and treatments to man-
age pain.

Achim will hold its annual
brunch and installation of offi-
cers and board of trustees on
June 15 at 9:30 a.m. in the
synagogue youth lounge.
