Youth Win Awards
For Israel Study
Steven Gamer and Jeffrey
Chajes will receive Israel study
youth awards which have been
annually presented by Cong:
Beth Achim to outstanding stu-
dents who have been accepted at
an Israeli institution of higher
learning for an academic year of
study.
Gamer, the son of Abe and
Mary Gamer, received the
Samuel and Dora Kobaker
Memorial Youth Scholarship
which will enable him to study
at the Hebrew University in
Jerusalem during the academic
year of 1986-1987.
Chajes, the son of Annette
Chajes and the late Mr. Julius
Chajes, received the Harry and
Sarah Laker Israel Youth
Scholarship also to study at He-
brew University.
They will be presented with
the awards during the Shavuot
services at Cong. Beth Achim on
June 14 in the main sanctuary.
The presentation will be made
by members of the Kobaker and
Laker families.

Winners Named
Members of Shaarey Zedek
United Synagogue Youth have
received the Walter E. Klein
trophy of the Jewish Commu-
nity Council "for their commit-
ment to social action, as well as
meritorious planning and execu-
tion of projects."
A commendation for outstand-
ing community service was pre-
sented to Fanny Brice BBG cit-
ing particularly the group's in-
volvement in an urban/suburban
youth exchange.
Certificates of honorable men-
tion were given to Chazon
U.S.Y. of Cong. B'nai Moshe and
Gen. Maurice Rose A.Z.A. The
Chazon members organized a
youth Sabbath to which they in-
vited peers from Pilgrim Con-
gregation and Pine Hill Congre-
gational Church.
Rose A.Z.A. members were
recognized for volunteer services
to Beaumont Hospital, working
on the Channel 56 auction, and
a continuing commitment to the
Jewish Association for Retarded
Citizens.
