Morton Tatken
Seeks Court Seat

Morton J. Tatken, assistant
Wayne County Prosecuting At-
torney, has announced his can-
didacy for the post of judge of
the 46th District Court.
Tatken was graduated from
Detroit Central High School in
January 1950. He attended
Wayne State University for
pre-law and subsequently
attended Detroit College of Law,
graduating in June 1954 with a
L.L.B. degree. He was admitted
to the Michigan Bar in January
1955, and has been a practicing
attorney for more than 31 years.
Tatken served in the United
States Army from 1956 to 1958
and during that time was as-
signed to the Courts and Boards
Section.
In the first 13 years of his
career, he conducted a general
practice of law, with extensive
civil and criminal trial experi-
ence.
He was sworn in as Assistant
Wayne County Prosecuting At-
torney on Jan. 8, 1968, and has
worked in that capacity for 18 1/2
years. He tried major felony
cases in the Recorder's Court,
City of Detroit for ten years, in-
cluding two years with the Pro-
secutor's Repeat Offenders
Bureau.
For the last 8 1/2 years, Tatken
has been a supervisor of felony
prosecutions in Recorder's
Court, from arraignment on in-
formation through trial; he
supervises six felony trial pro-
secutors. He is responsible for
about 20 percent of the prosecu-
tions in Recorder's Court.
Tatken is a member of the
Prosecuting Attorneys Associa-
tion of Michigan and the Wayne
County Government Bar Asso-
ciation, of which he is a former
member of its board of directors.
Tatken is a member of the
Downtown Synagogue.
He is the treasurer of the
Cambridge Village Homeowners
Association in Southfield, and
has been an officer in the asso-
ciation for several years.

Master of Science degree from
Wayne State University has
